Wayne Evenden of Evendens Excursions in Wasilla, AK sent us these pictures of his new custom made boat, Wild Thing. He has been using our system for years!. Click to enlarge:

Wayne passed this e-mail along to me when a potential customer contacted him about our trim tabs:

Mike

I have been using Bluefin Trim tabs for the past twelve years and "they are great" I run river boats and quite often rub bottom, the stainless trim tabs will roll up on the trailing edge and the fiber trims never wear thin. I would never go back to stainless. My web site is www.evendensexcursions.com

I have a 25 ft Boulton Jet Boat, it has a 496 425 horse 8100 HD Vortex, 212 Hamilton Turbo Jet, I run in as little as eight inches of water at speeds of 45 to 62 miles per hour. I am leaving on the 9th of September on a 1200 mile river trip taking moose hunters on a two week hunt. I will be hauling 5 people, about a 1000 pounds of gear and 325 gallons of fuel. I couldn't do that without trim tabs.

I hope I have answered your question. Again I use Bluefin trim tabs and the service is the best you'll ever find. Lee and Julie are great people to work with and will be there anytime you need their help.

I thought it was logical to follow up with Wayne's previous letter with a response to yet another potential customers questions:

Once again I LOVE my Bluefin Trim Tabs. I just returned from a two week moose hunt with my Boulton 25 foot custom built for Alaska Big river and ocean usage. I just put the trim tabs to another test. I had three moose on board, weight of 2500 pounds and 150 gallons of fuel. It took about a sixteenth mile to get on step, without the trim tabs we would have had to transfer the moose forward to get on step. With five people on board and 3600 pounds of gear going in again the trim tabs are the answer.

Thanks Wayne! We are so pleased to be a small part in your success.

Hi Julie,

It's just a little scary watching the holes you drilled in your friends boat go underwater for the first time.  Will it work, will we sink at the dock, will it leak a little, or a lot or not at all, is the power unit going to fall off and bang around the engine compartment, will the hoses break, will the... you get the idea.

Thanks to good instructions and 3M 5200, no leaks!  In fact, I was expecting a great change in his boat, but I was truly amazed at how well the new tabs really work.  We had a good time even though the water was 55 degrees.  You've heard all this before, so I won't go on.  One thing I will say, people who don't know anything about trim tabs won't understand how important the read-out on the digital display really is, until they get one.

Thanks again,

Hi Lee,

Success! The trim tabs work great!

I had to get out on the water and try 'em out. Wow! What a difference. As I had said - before getting the trim tabs - my boat was really slow to plane out and sometimes I couldn't plane out without shifting weight to the front of the boat. I was never able to plane out in less than 30 seconds. Now, with your tabs, I am up on plane in 8 seconds! My kids are going to love this when they waterski.

But even more importantly to me is that I can now cruise at 12 mph without losing plane as compared to 22 mph before. Less gas, less noise and more relaxing! That's my idea of a good time.

As you know, perhaps the most significant difference is the safety advantages of having trim tabs. People don't have to move around in order to plane out or level the boat. There is also better visibilty with the bow down. The boat also maneuvers better at slow speeds which really helps when docking.

I am very happy with the trim tabs, I'd never have a boat without 'em. Installation was straight forward and easy, but don't tell anyone: My friends are impressed when I tell them I installed the tabs myself.

Just one problem, the weather forecast says snow! Can't wait 'til spring!

Adrian from Eastliegh, England painted his tabs to match his boat. All you need is marine anti-fouling paint. There is no special preperation required as the tabs are already painted with black polyurethane.

Thanks to all of you, we really appreciate the feedback and photos! Happy and safe boating!
